Ngöndro, or preliminary practices, are considered essential in Tibetan Buddhism. They prepare the body, speech, and mind for the subtler recognitions of Dzogchen.
The Menngagde (Instruction Series) practices, especially Tögal, are considered extremely advanced. They require close supervision by a qualified teacher to ensure safe and authentic progress.
Although Dzogchen emphasizes direct recognition of awareness, supportive practices such as breathing and working with subtle channels help clear obstacles and harmonize body, speech, and mind.
In Dzogchen, early glimpses of rigpa are fragile and easily lost. Stabilization means that recognition of awareness becomes continuous, effortless, and integrated into all states of being.
